My name is Will O'Dwyer,

I’m a democratic socialist running for an At-Large seat on the Northampton City Council.
The communities that make Northampton special: the working-class, immigrants, and LGBTQ+ people, are being pushed out by rising cost of living.
This campaign is for those who believe in a Northampton for all — a paradise you can afford. As a councilor I would advocate and fight hard for policies that protect tenants, build more affordable housing, and invest in public services.

About

I’m a student and tenant here in Northampton, and I’m proud to call this unique city home. Like many, I was drawn to Northampton by its diverse, creative communities, its thriving downtown scene, and friendly neighborhoods. But Northampton’s vitality has been diminished by rising rents, cost of living, absentee landlords and cuts to public services which displace and price out the community. I believe Northampton has a chance this election to turn this around, and make our city government work for working people.

Before going back to school, I worked in a warehouse and on delivery trucks. I’ve also worked in retail and food service. I know what it’s like to be underpaid, be exploited at work, and pay too much in rent. I spent the last years of my childhood in affordable housing.

As a democratic socialist and former union member, I believe that organized people have the power to create a better city and a better life for themselves. We can have more affordable housing, more rights at work, and a better quality of life if we come together and fight for it. I’m running to build a future where everyone in Northampton, from teachers to service workers to artists, can build a decent life here. A Northampton for all — a paradise you can afford.

Will O'Dwyer is running for city council to build power for workers and renters in the city of Northampton. Our city is not doing enough to support the community in the face of rising rents and cost of living, while continually underinvesting in our public services like education. William will be a councilor for working people, who will advocate and fight hard for policies that protect tenants, build more affordable housing, and invest in public services.
